SUPON is a small, very friendly--yet powerful--database program for easy management of databases characterized by numerical order of items, e.g., music CDs, video DVDs, books, supermarket coupons--any set of objects that can be numbered and stored in numeric sequence. With SUPON, you can easily specify database name and table headings, build/edit data entries, and view/print the database in different ways for quick object(s) retrieval. Sometime after creating SUPON , Syringa Software became aware that with certain modifications, this database program could be adapted to other databases as well as that of grocery coupons. This is true, in general, for that kind of database which tracks objects numbered and stored in numerical sequence: e.g., a music library, wherein CD cases are numbered and stacked in sequential order on shelves; video library, wherein DVDs and/or tapes are similarly numbered and arranged; books_documents library; or collection of any items that can be numbered and arranged in numeric order--for rapid identification and access. For historical reference and continuity, the name SUPON is retained. SUPON is a small, very friendly--yet powerful--database program for easy management of the kinds of objects described above. Writing or sticking a sequence number on each object of concern, you physically arrange objects in numbered order at your (physical) storage location. SUPON lets you build/edit the database and view/print it in several different ways in order to quickly access the object(s) you wish. When you run SUPON , initial screen is the file Open dialog, for selecting the desired database from files listed in SUPON’s Data folder (with file extension .cds). At first, you’ll see the sample files that were installed along with SUPON . Depending on file selection, the table-listing that initially appears is a sample database built from actual CDs, DVDs, coupons, etc. It is meant to illustrate how the program works but not to mandate how data should be entered in all the data fields. You can edit any of the sample databases, including name and headings, and can rename sets of files, according to your preference. But before you start to build your own database(s) from sample files, you should save copies of the sample files, as they presently exist, to another folder for possible future reference and for file(s) reuse. |
